What is biostimulation?
Biostimulators stimulate your body’s own production of collagen by communicating with cells known as fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are the cells responsible for creating collagen proteins within the body and are involved in essential processes within the body, such as wound healing.
What is regenerative medicine?
Regenerative medicine can be described as replacing or “regenerating” human cells, tissues, or organs to restore normal bodily function.
Biostimulation and Regenerative Medicine in Aesthetics
Within the last few years, aesthetics has shifted significantly towards biostimulation and regenerative medicine. This involves the use of external stimuli, such as aesthetic treatments, to encourage the production of collagen, improve skin elasticity, and provide an appearance of skin rejuvenation.
Are you interested in receiving biostimulatory treatments at Cameo? Here’s what we offer!
Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable. Once injected and collagen stimulation begins, the results deliver the appearance of volume and rejuvenated, glowing skin. The most common areas in which Sculptra injections are received are the areas that frame the face, such as the temples, pre-auricular, chin, jawline, and cheeks.
PRF Injections are another means of biostimulation. In the office, we draw your blood and remove the “liquid gold” from it, which includes platelets in a fibrin matrix. These injections help to build tissue and stimulate collagen in the skin. The most common areas to receive PRF injections are the under-eyes (to improve discoloration/mild hollowing) and scalp (for hair restoration).
As for skincare, we offer topical exosomes by Plated. These products are derived from platelets, which are the “first responders” in the process of wound healing. Using daily exosomes is a form of regenerative medicine and has shown improvement in skin texture, redness, fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation.
